Corncrake Cottage is a modern family home situated on a working croft on the west coast of Colonsay approximately 3 miles from the ferry terminal at Scalasaig.
The croft extends some 300 acres and is excellently situated for golfers, anglers, botanists and ornithologists.
The croft land encompasses the bird cliffs at Pigs Paradise where kittiwake, razorbills, shags and gannets nest in great numbers. A 5-minute walk takes you south to the 18 hole golf course and the beautiful sandy bay at Machrins, Traigh an tobar fhuair, 5 minutes to the north and you will reach Loch Fada where you can fish for native brown trout, or wander up to Archie's cycle hire (500m) and hire a bike to explore the rest of the island, maybe stop for lunch and a pint of Colonsay brewed beer at The Colonsay or have a quick coffee in The Pantry
Guest accommodation
One twin/double room with ensuite bath and shower over. This room has lovely views to the north overlooking the pastureland towards the heather-clad hills of the croft.
One double room with ensuite shower. This room, although a double, annexes an additional private room capable of sleeping two thus providing family accommodation; or it can be made available on request complete with T.V/ D.V.D to provide a private sitting room.
These rooms are south facing overlooking one of the croft's corncrake conservation areas to Port Mhor and beyond to the great Atlantic Ocean .
The residents lounge/ dining room boasts beautiful aspects both south and west over the ocean, offering stunning views at any time of the day and culminating in a wonderful Hebridean sunset in the evenings
