5 GLASSARD, COLONSAY

5 Glassard (left hand side)

5 Glassard (left hand side)

This traditional island home in the historically significant community of Glassard has been beautifully renovated, furnished and equipped to make a wonderful holiday home.

From the comfort of the sitting room, warmed off season by an open fire, visitors can watch the comings and goings at the pier while keeping an eye out for otters playing on the shore in front of the house.

5 Glassard is ideal for two couples or parents and three children, we welcome well behaved dogs to a maximum of two and offer all that is generally needed for a superb island holiday.

On the ground floor there is an entrance porch and utility room, with washing machine and tumble dryer, which is ideal for wellies and waterproofs on those occasional rainy days. A well equipped dining kitchen has a dishwasher and microwave along with a fridge freezer and electric hob, oven and extractor hood.

The sitting room has satellite tv and dvd player and a coal fire.

The first floor has a twin bedded room, a double with an annexed single which could be used either for children or as a dressing room, and a family bathroom.

The house benefits from smoke detectors and electric storage heating throughout.

Outside the lawned garden is securely fenced and has a picnic table and seats which benefit from the house's southerly aspect.

5 Glassard has stunning views across the water to Jura and Islay and is a pleasant stroll away from the hotel, shop, hall and harbour.

2010 is the third full season that No. 5 Glassard has been available as self-catering accommodation and already many of our visitors have made repeat bookings.

Here are just a couple of comments written in the Visitors' Book:

"We have stayed in holiday cottages throughout Scotland for 30 years and this is one of the best we have stayed in."

"Lovely accommodation, well-equipped and beautifully furnished and decorated, with easy access to all local amenities and boasting the most magnificent sea views."

The rental includes bed linen and towels (weekly changeover; NOT beach towels) throughout the year. The cost of electricity consumed April - September is also inclusive. However, electricity consumed off-season during October - March will be charged for. During these autumn / winter months a bag of coal and a basket of firewood will be provided at no extra charge.

Wednesday, Friday and Sunday are our preferred changeover days during the summer season, although we are flexible depending upon the booking situation.
